Dallas, Texas - Yeeehaaaw

I went to Dallas, TX to visit the Travel Division of my work, but more importantly to see Steve & Kelsey. I had four days there... and we had a GREAT time!!

First - I got to go to the airport... and y'all know how much I love the airport!

Once I got in at 5am Texas time, Kelsey and I went to the Waffle House! Yum! Then off to work! Kelsey was wonderful to drive me everywhere.

I met with Robbie (left) and Tonya (right) - they help with the account that I'm apart of. I have to take a second to describe the food in Texas. A. Everyone eats out. B. Everyone (most everyone) is overweight C. I ate some food that can proove why.

These are Cheese Fries. If you notice, they actually bake it in a dish that you line with foil, as not to ruin the bowl. Yum. Actually, you take a chunk of Fries, put green onion, bacon, ranch, and jalapenos on it and then eat it.

YUMMIE.

Once my day was done there - I went home with Kelsey to Denton, about 20 miles north of DFW. The adventure of the evening was to Texas Woman's University. It was a georgeous campus!

We walked all around the campus... climbing trees, finding fire ant hills, and enjoying the beautiful sunset!

Second day... Sarah & Kelsey's Day of Fun! (shopping)

We headed off in the V-Roller to Plano, TX - this was a beautiful part of Texas! We drove thru Dallas on our way there... and there were these huge estates in the middle of the city!

One street, but HUGE houses... with acres and acres of manacured lawns and walkways and they are ALWAYS gated. The names of towns were also fun, i.e. Plano, Flower Mound

We made our way to Plano for the Premium Outlets!!
It was very fun... and we left after hours of too much fun to meet Steve in the town where he works (McKinney). Unfortunately, everything closes at 5pm. On a Friday.

We did get to stop by his workplace... to see all the cool landscaping. It was really cool :)
So the next day (Saturday) we were off to Six Flags over Texas! One of the things that I really loved about Texas was the interesting advertising.

This was only a snippit - and hopfully you can spot the AWESOME liquer store on the left...

Then we were off to Six Flags!! For rides and rides and more rides...YEEAAAHHH! Once we spent 8 hours there... we were done for the day :) We went home, changed into nice clothes and went to a great... no I have to say AMAZING dinner at Paupaudeaux's.

Sunday I flew out at 6pm, but we had to make the day count! We headed to Fort Worth and on our way, stopped by Cabela's - the amazing outdoor store, complete with an inside Mountain... containing hundreds of Taxidermied Animals! (OMG!) They even have different seasons represented and different areas of the world.

I saw a real Rhino!

We went to Fort Worth for the day, and OH! it was fun! :) I rode a bull! Granted, it was heavily sedated, but I rode a bull!

I now headed back to Seattle for a day and onto Chicago!

More to come...

Rock Climbing & Camping in Leavenworth

And so the adventure began.... 430am on Saturday morning... up to Hwy 2 and over Stevens Pass... a little snow on the shoulder, but a great drive up. And then...I enjoy that you can see Leavenworth's sunshine from 40 miles away :) The climbing group met at a local restaurant and drove up Icicle road to the spot where we'd begin our climbing. We had about 8 people and 3 leaders... great group to go with.

Once we were at our first rock, we learned friction climbing. Basically, you have no handholds, and you use your feet (and rock shoes) and the friction the rock creates to climb.

I had a great time!!

We had three routes on this rock face, and we spent about 4 hours there. At break time I headed down the road to Eightmile campground and reserved a spot for the night. I was glad that I went early in the afternoon, because there were only two sites left!

We then moved to a spot where we could crack climb. Here you climb the rock use the counter balance weight from your body and the crack.

Here we had three different cracks to climb... easy, difficult, and really hard. (Those are my ratings).

I again had a lot of fun, and it was great that we started on the friction slab because at this point I knew how to move my weight and my body so that the climbing was made easier and more smooth!

At about 6pm we ended, and I headed into town for my camping / dinner supplies. I met the dog in the back of the truck when I was leaving Safeway. He never barked... like he was just as happy to see me as I was to see him. Yeeaaaahhh!

I was really excited because this was the first time I was camping by myself!

Camping was a BLAST. I made FIRE! Just like Tom Hanks in Castaway - I was that happy. I'm sure you can picture it.

Anyway - I sat there and ate some food... although next time I'll be better with my food choices. I DID buy smores ingredients, so I was happy with that decision.

So I had a great night... I even met the campground hosts... who came over to my camp to reimburse me for the $7 I overpaid (How nice are they!?)

I slept great... woke up this morning bright and early with the birds.. packed everything up and where did I go? Where do I go every morning?!
I got my early cup o' joe and headed back to the western part of the state. I do have to say how beautiful and amazing our state is... everytime I see it.

WOW :)

It even snowed over Stevens Pass!!
Fun fun :)

More to come next week... I'm off to Dallas, TX on Wednesday night!

I get to go to the airport!!!!
