Texas Truck

This is the second of two posts in a row - make sure to check out the next post!

Since I'm moving to Texas.... I had to get a Texas truck!!

2007 Ford F-150 Lariat. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here we go.....

Yeeeaaaahhhhhh

On my way to the airport... and my last week in Seattle!

Kemah Boardwalk

I went to the Kemah Boardwalk a few weeks ago... and to get there you go by NASA!!

You even take NASA Road 1 & NASA Parkway.

LOVE IT!

Everything you can imagine NASA - it's here. Even a NASA McDonalds!

Kemah was beautiful! It reminded me of the Keys in Florida... the humidity, the heat, and the water. I felt at home... it was wonderful.

Texas alcohol laws are weird. I got to Kemah, and you can buy a beer to walk around with (?) and you can even walk into stores with it! You walk around the boardwalk, pass restaurants, and the restaurants have signs that say, "No alcohol permitted past this point per Texas Law". Huh? I'm walking around with a beer, but if I buy it from the wrong person, I can't. Sad. Well, here I am in front of that sign, with my beer. he he.

Fish are also weird in Texas. They jump. Yes - you read that correctly, they jump. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of this, but they jump thru the air in and out of the water... Yeeaaaahhhhhh

I then went to a restaurant on the boardwalk called the Aquarium. Basically, it had an aquarium in it. Pretty cool, and at 530p every day they send a poor old soul (scuba diver) into the pool to feed all the fish, sharks, and other slimy stuff. Yey.

The lighting at the bar at the aquarium was cool - and outside there were lights, karaoke and lots of smiles.

Happy!!

Texas Continued...

Go Astros!

I went to an Astros game a few weeks ago and had a blast! It was right after Biggio hit his 3,o00th hit! (Please note that I'm wearing my UT shirt)

I then went outlet shopping in Katy, TX - and look what I found! A tractor!

There was an opportunity to wear a REAL cowboy hat!

And I went to Galveston!

Little did I know about the...

If I would've known I would've worn my sting bikini!!

It was a new experience - drive up to the beach (on the sand), pay $8, and you can walk around, go swimming, drink beer, listen to live bands, and stand out in the 100 degree, 70% humidty weather and hang out! (I chose to look, have a beer, and leave)

I was then off to Austin for the weekend!

Rolling hills (wait - there aren't any hills...)

Churches

And please don't forget the trucks with cowboys in them...

I ended my time in Austin at a place called Lake Travis...

This was actually quite beautiful: rolling hills, a huge lake, and the sunset dipping into the trees.... ahh- I'm so glad that I went there alone... it would've been TOO romantic had I actually gone with someone.

As I continue to blog, I do want to tell you that I am moving to Houston. My last day in Washington will be the 14th of September, I have sold most of my belongings (including Cartman!)... and I will start a new with a big TRUCK (yes, truck!) in Texas.

More to come, more to come....

3 weeks in Texas... turns into MOVING??

I flew back down to Houston on August 5th... and didn't end up leaving until Thursday the 23rd. I got to see a LOT of really cool stuff... and I was also offered a position down there.
I took it.

I will ellaborate in a soon blog entry.

This is my drive to the Partnership office off of Louisiana Street. Please note one of the businesses that I work next to.

Smart Marketing - what a great name!

I went to a great Country Western bar, Blanco's Bar and Grill - with a few friends from Houston, Allison (friend who I've worked with for years) and Lance (new Texas friend).

Texas bars are fun... lots of country music and LOTS of neon (usually about Texas). Why isn't there any Washington neon??

This building offers reasonable rent (90 cents/sq. ft!) and a happy face!!

A few days later, the next adventure was to the Firehouse Saloon.

Please note that this isn't just an outhouse... it's a TEXAS outhouse. Located directly outside the Firehouse Saloon (which has restrooms inside) - I guess this is just incase you can't make it in - in time. (yikes!)

In this picture you have to note the yellow sign to the left of the entrance door. (See below)

Trapping?!?

I really enjoy the randomness of POSTED warnings.

Inside... was... um... well how do you explain it other than in pictures?

Boots... hanging from the ceiling...

More neon....

And who can forget the horse troff full of your favorite Miller Light or Bud Light products?

More to come...

Long Time... No Blog!

Howdy my favorite people! I'm sorry this blog entry has taken so long. I was in Phoenix, AZ thru 7/18, came home for a week, was in my first wedding (Congrats Steve & Kelsey!), ALS DoubleDay was a complete SUCCESS! and am now working in Houston, TX.

The following are some memorable pics from the last month or so...

This is Houston 8-2-07 (for those of you that miss the "driving in the car" pics)

Erika (Steve Wilson's friend from UW) getting our nails done for Steve's wedding 7-17-07

The Bachelorette Party

The rehearsal (or as I call it, the recital)

Steve on his wedding day....

And now... Texas. This is a bar... that has SADDLES as the bar stools! The saddles weren't as cool (they didn't even have stir-ups!) as this steer on the wall, so that's what I look a picture of.

I'm going to go to NASA and check out the space shuttle (how cool!!) and go 2-stepping... hopefully they won't be able to tell I'm not local when I wear my chaps and leather vest.

One of the best things I've noticed about Texas in the last week is they have a bunch of "Real Men of Genius" radio commercials. I love them.

This one is my favorite Texas one so far... and honestly, it's really true.

There is much, much more to come....
